21) I have to eat all the cookies in one sleeve of a plastic tray before moving on to the next. For instance, one row of Oreos must be eaten before the next. My brother just eats all the ones in the closest rows before pulling the whole tray out to eat the other half of them.
22) I can't wear blue shirts with jeans.

just had to post those.
until later,

a few of my favorite "things"

hello everyone!

I realize I've posted quite a few blog entries lately, but that should be good news for you right?! So... when I went to sign in to this dear blogging site, I had to "upgrade" or something to use google. and... then I had to enter my email address and the email I use for all my random memberships to things was typed in incorrectly, and I've spent the last five minutes trying to change it, so... if you don't see me on blogger for a while, it's because the email address thing has not been sorted out yet. We'll see.

Moving on. So, when I got to college, my roommates (especially nichole) realized that I say "It's just a thing" or "I have a thing [about various actions]". So, I thought I'd document them and see how many I can come up with...

"I HAVE THIS THING WHERE:
1) I have to fold my laundry right out of the dryer. I have sometimes run my laundry through 2 or 3 dryer cycles because I forgot to fold it right after it was done the first/second time. [my mom hates this]
2) underwear must be folded before it can go in my drawer
3) I can't sleep with the closet door open
4) I can't brush my teeth right after eating. I do it before, or I wait a 1/2 hour or so.
5) the hangers in my closet must all be at a 90 degree angle to the closet rod-- meaning, hangers cannot be leaning right or left, meaning, clothing has to be hanging independently-- not leaning on top of the neighboring item of clothing.
6) I cannot wear shoes without socks/ panty hose. Unless they're flip-flops or open-toed shoes. I'm not one of those bare-foot-sneaker-wearing people. Ick.
7) If other people borrow my shoes, they must also wear socks/ panty hose-- preferably the socks. [Note: sometimes Megan borrows my shoes without following this rule]
8) If I wear any type of heeled shoes, my pants must be long enough for the back of the leg to reach the ground. If pants are only long enough to touch the floor when I'm wearing flat shoes, I will only wear flat shoes with those pants.
9) I do not let other people borrow my pants-- shirts sometimes, but never pants. I don't really know why this is.
10) my shoes need to coordinate with my clothing (I can't just wear sneakers with any t-shirt)
11) Once I choose something I can't go back-- for instance, I have never changed my cell-phone ring, or my radio station. Once I have chosen a route to class, I take it every day, regardless of whether or not there is a shorter one available, and the seat I choose to sit in on the first day of class is mine until the semester ends.
12) I have to drink milk out of a glass-- it cannot be a mug or plastic cup.
13) All my fingernails must be the same length
14) when choosing to wear hair in a ponytail in the morning, there can be no "bumps"... thus I do not wear my hair in a ponytail as a fashion choice in the morning. (sometimes it ends up in a ponytail throughout the day-for convenience etc- in which case the bump rule doesn't necessarily apply) Similarly, my part absolutely must be a straight line. (unless I get fancy and zig-zag, which never happens, because then the zig-zags are never even and that bothers me)
15) I do not eat the grapes that are in the bottom of the bag-- or the ones that fell off the stemmy thing. Even if I watched it fall off, and it's only been separated from the stem for a few seconds. I only eat the ones whose separation from the stem has been my doing.
16) I do not eat the little grapes.
17) my cereal must have been completely submerged in milk before consumption.
18) if I start class notes in one color ink, I can't switch-- even if the next time I take notes for that class is days later. Similarly, if I start notes in cursive, I can't switch to print.
19) I can't sleep wearing socks. Similarly, I can NOT sleep with the covers over my head.
20) I have to end lists on an even number."

Ok-- well that's my list of things for now! I'm sure I will add to them in future entries-- so, if [sometime in the near future] I post an entry with #21 somewhere, you'll know I'm listing another thing. But I thought writing out some of the ones I can think of off the top of my head would hopefully be at least a little interesting to you. (:

I don't have much to say today. The semester is 1/2 over-- that's pretty happy!

Special Delivery

hello everyone!

so it's not thursday yet, I know, and I plan on writing another entry tomorrow morning, but I just have to say,

I got (what I'm assuming were 1/2 price Valentine's Day) chocolates in the mail yesterday from my parents.

It just may have been the best thing that's happened all semester.

Chocolate. In the mail. Can't beat that.

I am about to polish off the box, so I had to write about my contentedness. Mmmmmmmmm.

all you need is love

Hello again to all!

I am posting some pictures from recent events (can you guess which recent event I'm referring to?!)

I have many pictures that I took in hopes of clever blog entries for them to be included in-- however, I didn't quite didn't get around to them, so I have the pictures, but we'll see if I ever post the stories-- I suppose they're "old" at this point, but we'll see.

Anyway. The first two pictures are what I found when I got home yesterday. Erin gave me roses! Look how pretty! We were all impressed with the heart red-hots on the outside-- there's two vases. How sneaky.

And then sean came and dropped off flowers for me-- even after I specifically and sincerely told him not to get me anything. Oh well. So we're going out this Saturday-- we'll see how it goes (:

And then Nichole came to visit (she's still here) because she's flying to CT next Wednesday and wanted to say a little good-bye. So she brought pie with her! (It's cream cheese pie-- I thought my family was the only one!)

Anyway, I have to go to an interview tonight for Social Work and then I'll be back and hopefully studying for
music for the majority of the night.

Just posting to show you my valentine's day.

-mollie

p.s.- I love flowers. Roses are in my top 3 all-time favorites. They make me happy. [I especially like the multi-colored ones. I got yellow-pink ones from derek once. I liked them a lot. (: ]

apology accepted. right?

hello everyone!

well, I apologize, but I don't have time to write a full-length mollie entry today. I went to bed at around 1:30 last night because Nichole came to visit (for the last time before she flies to CT) and I insist on blaming her for my inability to get things done.

I had class at 8 this morning, so I had to be up at 7 (we've gone over this before) and then I went to class and then came to the SWKT where I usually then spout off a random entry about something or other. I had a really good idea for today's entry, so I'll have to post it when I get home after my 11 o clock class. But anyway.

I spent the two hours 1) writing a paper for my psychology class at 11 and 2) finishing my job application so it can be submitted today. I'll write more about that later.

But anyway. And then, before I knew it, it was 10:46 and I only have 14 minutes before my next class starts! (luckily it's just upstairs so I don't have to walk that far.) So yes.

So I suppose this is somewhat belated, but I will take this opportunity to wish you all a HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! ... and a happy snow day because apparently New England was hit with a storm in the last 48 hours. So if you're reading and you're in New England, I hope you're enjoying your snow!

Anyway. My Valentine's Day was fine. I got cookies from my mom on Monday, and the frosting was still soft! I was worried they'd go hard over night so I ate as many as I possibly could. I still had about half of them left though... until yesterday when two members of my apartment happened to come across them and ... eat them. so now there are 3. well, at least hopefully they're still there when I get home today.

I shall post pictures of my Valentine's Day gifts when I get home. I brought my camera with me, so I could post them, but ended up not having time. Plus, I realized that if I want to post them, they have to be saved somewhere on my computer, and I didn't necessarily feel like my random pictures should be stored electronically on campus computers. Sooo... I'll post when I get home.

I cannot wait for the three day weekend!!! Unfortunately, I have to take a music test before my 3 day weekend can begin, so... I'm kind of dreading the next day for that reason. It's like at the end of finals, when you're SO excited to go home, but still have to take two really hard finals- Dang it! I'm so excited, but so sad at the same time! How am I supposed to feel?!

Yes. Just like that.

Anyway. So I will write and post pictures when I get home. And, in the off-chance that I don't get around to it today, I'll have a three day weekend to do nothing but post random blog entries. So... you should check back frequently (: Although, I might be babysitting will on Sunday night so Erin and Bryce can go out of town. And, I'm going out with Sean on Saturday night for a post Valentine's Day/First Official Date. So we'll see.

I'll write soon-- for now I'm off to psychology: 1 credit nothingness.

The Haunting: Basketball Girl and Bambi

hello everyone!

I am entirely convinced that the title of this entry should be the title of the sequel to the original movie. Don't you agree?!

I don't suppose I have much to say, even though I haven't written in a week or so. Hmmm let me think. OH! So last thursday, I went to my "intro to the psych major" class and there, in the row ahead of me, was one of the crazy basketball girls from the night before!!! it was somewhat awkward and I hoped she didn't see me. But then I thought she probably wouldn't recognize me- after all, I like to think I look much better when I've gotten dressed for the day than I do dressed for a game of basketball. Maybe that's just me.

But anyway. Then on Saturday, Katie and I were getting ready to go to the basketball game. I can't remember why I was running behind schedule. Oh YES! I remember! Ok. So... I wanted to make this macaroni and cheese for lunch. But it was Stouffers, and therefore required baking time. So I took it out after I had patiently waited for the maximum suggested cooking time to pass. I carefully stirred it around. My mouth could already anticipate the taste and I was very excited. I brought the fork to my mouth, ready for the yumminess to hit me. Let's just say my taste buds (more accurately, my papillae. [this knowledge brought to you by Psych 111]) were surprised when the noodle that had activated them was stone cold. I think my taste buds were even scared out of tasting. But anyway. So I got impatient and shoved it into the microwave and decided I should have just started there in the first place.

So it took me about 10 extra minutes to eat. I was running late, and I felt bad. I rushed to get ready and then I told Katie I just needed to put on my shoes and I'd be ready to go. She sat down at her computer: "Oh. Well I think I'm going to finish this page of my paper before I go, so don't rush." Hmmm ok. And then there's a knock on the back door, and Katie goes to open it, and then there's some type of squeal in the hallway and as I exited my bedroom, I knew what the scene was: Nichole was here to visit!

It was very exciting. So Nichole came to the game with us. BYU won, by the way. And then we went back to the apartment and watched a movie and then Nichole took us out for a late night trip to Wendy's. It was lovely. I forget sometimes how much I miss french fries, but I suppose I'm better off for it. But anyway.

So then on Sunday I got up and took a shower in luke-warm water. I don't know how I manage it, but I have yet to take a HOT shower on sunday morning. Anyway. Then off to church. Sean (the boy I'm dating) sported a mohawk to church. Apparently someone paid him $50 to do it. Enough said.

After church, we went back to our apartment and everyone went to choir practice and I helped Nichole make dinner. I mashed the potatoes! She made deer burgers, except without buns and stuff. So mostly it was just deer meat, in burger form. But it was yummy. I've never eaten deer, and I'm trying to get over the mental image of Bambi's mother being shot in the forest after which Bambi goes frantically and devastated-ly jumping around trying to find her. It kept popping into my head while trying to enjoy the meal, and every once in a while it makes an appearance when I'm off doing random things. Poor Bambi, whose mother I ate last sunday. Please forgive me! In my defense... ok, I don't really have a defense. And if you're reading this and thinking "All meat comes from some living animal that had to be killed" I know, you're right. But somehow deer are different. I mean... they're the main characters of a disney movie. To tell the truth, I never quite felt totally guilt-free about chicken, either-- after seeing Chicken Run. Poor Edwina.

Anyway. So that was sunday. Nichole went over to the boys' apartment to watch the super bowl and I believe I stayed home in my room and did nothing like the true bum that I am. I have a political science test this weekend, and I was supposed to have a Music test, but it got rescheduled because the professor said he's a little behind in his lecture sequence. Wonder of wonder, miracle of miracles!

On Tuesday I went to my 8 o clock class and babysat will for two hours, went with Katie down to lower side of campus to look at apartments, ate lunch at Brick Oven, then walked back to meet will again. He was asleep, so I brought him up to our apartment and laid him on my bed. I was exhausted, so it worked out, because I got to take a nap with him. It was really cute. He woke up once all bleary-eyed, saw that I was with him, turned around, and then wiggled/shoved his little butt into my stomach- he was apparently "backing in", because then he laid down and kept pushing himself backwards till he was right up next to me and then he fell asleep. It was cute. Awwww. He and I slept for 1.5 hours and then when he woke up, he rolled over and sat up and looked at me, and then just threw himself on top of me and giggled-- giving me what I assume to be a 19-month-old's version of a hug. Awwww.

anyway. So then Erin picked us up and went to Glenwood to look at apartments there. But we got there 8 minutes after their office closed. So then yesterday, I went to class, and then met Katie in my hour break when we booked it over to Glenwood. We walked into the office, and guess who was sitting there at the desk?!?! The CRAZY BASKETBALL GIRL from the game. the same one who's in my psych class. Oh boy. But she was nice, so I decided to forgive her for mercilessly kicking our butts in the game. She showed us her apartment, and Katie liked them better, so we signed contracts, and then came back to campus for the rest of our classes. Yup-- looks like I will be a Glenwood resident next year.

Anyway. So that has been my week. It has been one of the longest weeks ever! The days are going by quickly, but the time in those days goes really slow. In other news, I'm applying for a job for next year, and I declared myself a psychology major on Monday... which was really a silly thing to do, because on Wednesday I realized that I still really don't know what I want to do. But anyway.

I can't think of anything else important to tell you. Well, scratch that- because pretty much none of this was important. I'll rephrase that and say I can't think of anything (important or otherwise) to tell you all.

I know- I'm a typing fiend. One day I WILL "curb my enthusiasm". (Wasn't that a TV show of some sort?)

-mollie

p.s.- I HAVE PICTURES I'VE BEEN WANTING TO PUT ON HERE, BUT THEY'RE AT MY APARTMENT ON MY COMPUTER. WAAH!

please stop stealing from me!!

hello dear blog readers!

So I promised I would write soon, and here I am-- probably not as soon as I had planned, but nonetheless...

So my first item of real business for this official entry of the day, is to say hello to Nichole, and welcome her to the ranks of my blogspot readers. Nichole is our dear roommate who is now home in brigham city, and she promised she'd read my updates on here, so I'm sure she's been anxiously awaiting this post (;

Anyway. So... for the past few days, I have been on an eating rampage. I'm not really sure why- I think it's a boredom thing. Except... last semester I didn't eat when I was bored, so I don't really know why I'm doing it now. Either way, it is an annoying habit that I am hoping does not persist much longer. You see, I went grocery shopping on monday, because I got my weekly allotment of $30. And then I ate "out" on monday and wednesday. In addition to those regular meals resulting from trips to the Cougareat, my week has been filled with spontaneous vending-machine hopping.

To illustrate the severity of the problem: I got up early on wednesday to have time to eat breakfast at my apartment so I wouldn't be hungry on campus. Brilliant, I know. The planning is stunning. It worked-- until Katie invited me to meet her at the Cougareat, so I had a bowl of soup. And then I walked to the building that housed my next class (the SWKT) and found the vending machines were alive and well again, and had been returned to their "card-accepting" state. Hmmm. It accepts cards again, does it? Then I'm going to buy something gosh darnit! So I bought myself a little dessert- an ice cream snickers bar. It was yummy.

I went to my class, and then went to the JFSB for my next class, which was an hour from the time I got there. I was bored. I walked down the hall. MMM vending machines! The perfect cure for my case of the munchies! So the only problem here was that they (the vending machines) were mainly empty. I had this craving for Harvest Cheddar SunChips, but there were none. The only thing they had was Ruffles Cheddar and Sour Cream potato chips. I don't even like REGULAR potato chips, so why I proceeded to swipe my card and punch in the code for those reject potato chips is beyond me. Obviously no one else liked them either, considering they were the only kind left. But by golly, I was going to HAVE my chips! So I suffered through the experience of eating every last crumb, took a trip to the drinking fountain, and then decided "Well, obviously I need something sweet to counteract that unfortunate spud experience." So back I meandered to the vending machine, where I proceeded to purchase my third snack of the day: swedish fish. Luckily, I love swedish fish.

Anyway. The point is, I don't know what's wrong with me, but I feel like I've been eating non-stop for the past week! However, I DID make myself real meals for dinner twice this week. You should be impressed. I don't know- maybe it was just my guilt kicking in after having spent my days on campus snacking. But hopefully the good, nutritional benefits of eating real food were not lost.

Next item of business- my first intramurals basketball game. I had heard Larissa (who lives on the main floor and is the cousin of the Wades in the Hartford, CT stake) had started a team and was looking for players. So I went down and told her I didn't play very well, but that I was interested in participating. She enthusiastically signed me up, and I went on my way. And then we met again for the game last night. Larissa couldn't make it, so it was me, Kayla (Larissa's roommate), Mandi (Larissa's friend), Amy (my roommate), and Holly (from next door.) It was an interesting group. We skipped our way to the fieldhouse, and we were all feeling pretty giddy and silly about the game. Until we saw the other team. 6 girls, with their hair all slicked back in high pony tails. Their nicely fitted basketball shirts. (whoa, I left the "r" out of that word the first time... that could have been bad) Their button-up pants that covered their fancy basketball shorts. And their feet: fancy, expensive-looking michael jordan-ish sneakers. Ok. So these girls were serious. I suddenly felt very inadequate in my old every-day use sneakers and my disneyland t-shirt.

It's alright, no big deal. "I'll intimidate them with my fancy pink striped knee socks!" says Holly. Fine. We're already feeling a little discouraged, but trying to get excited again as we walk over for the pre-game. And that's when the other team stood up. (they had previously been sitting on the ground.) And that's when we realized the average height of their players was about 6" taller than any of ours. And that's when we realized just how much trouble we were in.

It didn't take long for the other team to take a quick (and very large) lead. Our team was more of a "church basketball" conglomerate, while the other team had this "high-school team reunion" aura to it. Fabulous. They were winning by a very wide margin, and refused to let up even a little. They continued to intercept every pass, and dominate every rebound opportunity. It was annoying. Seriously. Go ahead. Please steal the ball from us, and run down as fast as you can, and make a smooth lay-up while half our team is still on the other side of the court wondering what happened. Please. Because you're not winning by enough points yet.

What was the final score, you ask?! How many points do you think we lost by? Hmmm... I don't know- you're thinking... maybe 30? Maybe 40 if it was really bad. Oh, you'd be wrong. We lost by (are you sitting down?) 68 points. We got our butts kicked- 76-8. Yes, that's 8 points we made in 40 minutes of play.

Oy. I'm happy to play again, but it's not exactly fun to have a team just pummel you like that-- for no good reason too! I mean really- they knew they were going to win-- they didn't have to keep rubbing it in our face.

Anyway. I woke up surprisingly unsore from that game, so I am happy. Even if we did lose. By a lot.

Will came over today-- I'll have to write about his cuteness some other time.

I don't have much else to say, other than that I started my morning off with a blueberry-cheese puff pastry, and life is good again (: Although, I still think the vending machines are winning our war. They even found a way to lure me to their dark side and then steal $3-4 out of me for the past three days. Hmmm. Yes, I think they're winning.

I'm going to bed now! Tomorrow (well technically today) is FRIDAY!!! and I have two classes! and then it's the long-awaited WEEKEND!!!
(NOTE: contrary to my last post's classification, those exclamation points DO mean I'm very excited!)

until again,
mollie

sorry, but sleep will always win.

it's that time again!! thursday morning at 9 am... time for another mollie update. don't let those exclamation points fool you-- I'm not really that excited. As a matter of fact, I am completely exhausted from 1) having a basketball game last night, 2) having a roommate "party" (that wasn't planned-- it just kind of happened...) that was held in katie's and my bedroom that didn't end until 1:00 am and 3) having class at 8.

So I think I am going to try to find a place to sleep for a couple hours. Class at 11, then back to my apartment. I will have to write soon-probably later today. many writing-worthy things have happened! (:
